About The Position

The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a full-time Radiological Technologist (X-Ray Technologist) to join their team at Mount Sinai Hospital. This role involves performing radiographic examinations on patients in accordance with Radiology protocols. The position operates on a Monday-Friday schedule, with shifts from 12 AM to 8 AM. Requirements

  • Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience or successful completion of a radiology technical training program (as determined by MSHS) within 6 months of accepting this offer.
  • Obtaining radiology technologist temporary permit upon training program completion.
  • N.Y. State Dept. of Health Licensed Radiologic Technologist and or a current temporary permit under section 3505 of the Public Health Law pending examination for licensure.
  • Permit is valid for 180 days from date of issue.
  • Permits shall expire 10 days after notification by an accrediting organization that the individual has failed to pass the qualifying examination.
  • An individual with a temporary permit does not qualify for intravenous contrast administration certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine radiological procedures.
  • Applies technical judgment to obtain studies of acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and patient needs.
  • Prepares and positions patients for radiological procedures.
  • Provides patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures.
  • Ensures all radiographic images are appropriately labeled.
  • Demonstrates radiographically visible evidence of shielding, especially in pediatrics.
  • Employs radiation protection measures to minimize exposure to patients and personnel.
  • Assists physicians directly as required.
  • Evaluates radiographs for technical acceptability and ensures timely transmission to PACS.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the radiology room and equipment, including removal of soiled linen.
  • Maintains necessary supplies and accessories in the imaging room.
  • Accurately records patient tracking information into IDX (Radiology Information System).
  • Schedules exams into IDX (Radiology Information System).
  • Ensures all studies performed are completed in IDX (Radiology Information System) in a timely fashion.
  • Calls for in-patients as required.
  • Performs related clerical duties in the absence of support personnel.
  • Informs supervisor or appropriate personnel of needed equipment repairs or unsafe conditions.
  • Supervises radiology students assigned to the clinical area.
  • Prevents the spread of infection by adhering to infection control policies and protocol.
  • Attends in-services and other professional development meetings as required.
  • Maintains licensure specific to the job, including adherence to Article 35 of the Public Health Code.
