Operates x-ray and auxiliary equipment, processes images, and maintains equipment. Maintains required documentation. Prepares patients for exams by relieving anxiety and explaining procedures in layman's terms. Ensures necessary consent forms are obtained. Performs various x-ray exams according to established standards and departmental procedures. Positions patients for radiographs, arranges immobilization and supportive devices, and adjusts x-ray equipment for correct exposure. Monitors patient's condition, recognizing and reporting abnormalities to the Radiologist. Keys in patient history data and other pertinent information. Operates equipment for transferring computed images to film and archival. Processes and maintains exposed images, labels films, and maintains required records. Utilizes film markers and ensures images are properly marked. Ensures images are legibly labeled with correct date and patient identification. Enters exams onto the daily log sheet and completes tracking steps for each examination. Performs related duties as required.
