About The Position

The Radiologic Technologist operates imaging equipment and performs diagnostic x-rays on patients as requested, in order to provide the radiologists and/or physicians with diagnostic information. Assists in preparing procedure rooms as needed.

Requirements

  • License and certification as required by state.
  • Valid ARRT Certification in Radiography.
  • BLS certification required, ACLS preferred.
  • Knowledge of routine to complex Radiologic procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR.
  • Knowledge of database management.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare coding systems, and clinics functions.
  • Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of computer applications, including information and billing systems, keyboard input, digital archiving, and retrieving of data including Microsoft Office.
  • Skill in operation of Radiologic equipment as well as applicable ancillary equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and multitask.
  • Ability to provide documentation accurately and concisely.
  • Demonstrates understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, radiopharmacology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to assist patients for transfer from stretcher, wheelchair or in an emergency situation.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on patient medical issues with the physician to determine protocol and procedure.
  • Complete Radiologic Imaging and procedures, obtaining optimal images for physician review according to policy and protocol.
  • Obtain and record patient identification, medical history, or test results.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Perform medical care as needed, such as administering oxygen, taking vital signs and giving emergency treatments.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Documents duration of radiation, tests equipment weekly, examines protective x-ray aprons for integrity and documents the results of tests/examinations.
  • Maintain, clean and report any issues with equipment.
  • Administers appropriate high quality, patient-focused health care.
  • Operates imaging equipment and other ancillary equipment properly and safely.
  • Practices correct radiation protection, shielding and collimating, and proper exposure factors on each patient.
  • Positions patient in the correct position to obtain required radiographs.
  • Completes exams in timely and efficient manner and evaluates each film for acceptable technical quality.
  • Strives to reduce retakes and conservation of supplies.
  • Will be responsible each shift to make sure that the physician on duty is reviewing x-ray reports that were sent out for over-reads to a radiologist.
  • Maintains proper filing of all x-rays, discs, and folders.
  • Patient care functions may include triage/check-in assessment and discharge, CLIA waived point of care testing, phlebotomy, wound care, splinting application and other treatments ordered by the provider.
  • Maintains all clinical documentation, including quality control and compliance logs required by company policy and applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Accurately, efficiently, and completely documents all clinical patient care data.
  • Utilizes all equipment, supplies, facilities, and resources of the Company in a prudent and efficient manner.
  • Participates in department quality improvement activities, staff educational programs, attends departmental meetings, and demonstrates and maintains clinical competency in the delivery of patient care services in accordance with Company guidelines.
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned.

  • This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.
