As a vital member of the team, the Radiologic Technologist will play an important role in the patient care community within a setting renowned for clinical excellence. The role involves applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis to patients, assessing patients before, during, and after procedures, and evaluating and positioning patients to obtain quality images with a high degree of professional ethics, care, courtesy, patience, and safety. The technologist will perform IV contrast injections, urinary catheterizations, and other required procedures, observe patients for adverse reactions, and assist in aid when necessary. They will operate highly specialized fluoroscopic and radiographic equipment, including CR and DR, and may use PACS. Responsibilities also include assisting patients with scheduling, registration, file management, and utilizing EMR. The role may involve training students and staff, participating as part of a team to provide specific patient care functions, and assuring informed consent and patient education. Communication with physicians, nursing staff, other hospital staff, and patients is essential. Additionally, the technologist will cross-train in basic laboratory phlebotomy and operate laboratory waived testing equipment as per CLIA regulations. This includes preparing patients for examination, explaining procedures, evaluating lab results, patient history, and relaying information to the radiologist or procedure performing physician, as well as recording and maintaining all procedural data. Imaging procedures will be performed in the Emergency Department, Inpatient, and Operating Room settings, including trauma care and IV contrast injections. The technologist will also assist physicians during radiological or sterile diagnostic procedures.
