About The Position

This role is responsible for performing radiologic examinations, ensuring patient safety and confidentiality, and maintaining accurate records. The technologist will position patients, operate X-ray equipment, and ensure the quality of images produced. Responsibilities also include administrative tasks such as creating patient folders, managing imaging data in the PACS system, and assisting with film library duties. The position requires adherence to schedules, continuing education, and providing coverage for various shifts, including evenings and Saturdays.

Properly use the light system to get patients.
Identify patients and confirm the correct exam.
Ensure the correct exam is performed if there are questions about the doctor's orders.
Safely escort patients to the radiology department.
Provide patient confidentiality.
Create patient folders by entering information into the computer before the exam.
Provide patient radiation protection.
Position patients for each ordered view.
Make exposures using ALARA technical factors and proper collimation.
Use Quality Assurance (QA) with each view to ensure correct identification of body part (L-R), acceptable technical factors, and positioning.
Store each patient's study to the PACS system.
Ensure charges accurately match exams performed.
Return patients to the exam room.
Assist doctors and staff with PACS questions.
Make copies of film to paper, film, or disks for doctors and patients.
Take scout radiographs for MRI patients.
Assist the film library with filing outside film in the computer.
Maintain proper radiation protection for self when holding patients.
Assist the film library with mailing back outside film.
Provide coverage of the film library when personnel are absent.
Provide coverage for Saturday and evening hours.
Adhere to schedules provided weekly and monthly.
Attend seminars and read bimonthly publications.
Take direct readings tests for continuing education to keep certification current.
Perform related work as required.
Connect patient studies in the PACS system daily.
