About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital dedicated to providing world-class inpatient post-ICU services to chronic, critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery. The hospital helps patients during some of the most vulnerable and painful moments of their lives, with every team member playing a central role in providing compassionate, excellent care. The position is for a Radiologic Technologist (Rad Tech) at Select Specialty Hospital San Diego, offering a full-time schedule with compensation ranging from $33/hr to $49/hr. The role involves preparing patients for diagnostic procedures, operating equipment to produce images, and ensuring timely and accurate completion of exams.

Requirements

  • At least two (2) years experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist and hold current state license (as required).
  • Must have ARRT or CMRT certification.
  • Possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by start date.
  • Must be current with Continuing Education in all fields of licensure.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating facility-specific equipment desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing the patient for diagnostic procedures by explaining the process of the scans to the patient and properly positioning the patient to capture the appropriate images.
  • Correctly operating equipment in order to produce cross-sectional images of patient's bones, organs and tissue.
  • Understanding and completing necessary requisitions for ordered exams in a timely manner and scheduling all exams accurately.
  • Performing diagnostic Radiographic/Fluoroscopic/CT exams on patients both in the department and with portable equipment.
  • Demonstrating the ability to inject IV contrast media, as needed.
  • Performing a variety of examinations, reconstructions and various printing protocols.
  • Identifying various types of mechanical and electronic equipment failures in order to accurately diagnose general problems with radiographic machines and processors.
  • Explaining the procedure to the patient and answering any questions related to the equipment or the procedure.
  • Properly moving and transporting patients to and from department, as required.
  • Ordering necessary supplies and maintaining par levels.
  • Attending required in-services and orientations.
  • Working closely with floor staff and building positive relationships in order to facilitate excellent patient care.
