About The Position

The Radiologic Technologist prepares patients for radiologic procedures and performs routine and specialized diagnostic imaging while following established patient-care and safety procedures. The role includes maintaining working knowledge of PACS and digital and computed radiography equipment, maintaining radiology rooms and supplies, positioning patients and immobilization devices, and adjusting imaging equipment and exposure factors to produce accurate diagnostic images. The technologist explains procedures to patients and practices radiation protection to minimize exposure to patients and staff. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited X-Ray Technologist Program.
• Certified Registered Technician of Radiography (RT-R).
• ARRT Certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for radiologic procedures and take X-rays according to established patient-care and safety procedures.
• Maintain working knowledge of PACS, DR, and CR radiologic equipment.
• Maintain radiology rooms and stock necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
• Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures.
• Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimal views of the specified body area requested by the physician.
• Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.
• Move imaging equipment into position; determine exposure factors based on patient height, weight, body part, and required penetration; and adjust controls to produce images with proper detail, density, and accuracy.
• Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
• Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
