The Flex Radiologic Technologist (RT) works collaboratively with Medical Providers and Medical Assistants to provide technical procedures and ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis. This role involves performing and analyzing patient X-rays, reporting results, and providing administrative support for efficient center operations. The Flex RT travels between sites in close proximity to render care where X-ray needs arise, gaining exposure to various urgent care settings and maximizing the quantity of X-rays performed.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in a clinical setting preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) at the time of hire (obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)).
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration.
  • Applicable state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
  • Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
  • Positioning patients properly for the X-ray procedure.
  • Identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisors.
  • Following infection control and radiological safety procedures.
  • Will need to push patient in a wheelchair

Responsibilities

  • Provide a variety of technical procedures and prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.
  • Perform and analyze patient X-rays and report results to Medical Providers.
  • Provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of GoHealth Urgent Care Centers.
  • Collaborate with Medical Providers, Medical Assistants, and patients on patient care management, organization, and communication.
  • Complete all activities accurately, with high quality, and in a timely manner.
  • Travel between urgent care sites in close proximity to render care as patient needs arise.
  • Support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly.
  • Explain procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety, and answering their questions.
  • Accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging results.
  • Select proper ionizing factors by adjusting/setting radiographic controls to capture clear, high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning of X-ray equipment, and manage necessary supplies.
  • Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols and implement ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and log completed procedures in electronic systems and/or logbooks.
  • Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation.
  • Inform technical staff of patient flow.
  • Prepare patients for examination, including conducting interviews to verify patient information and record medical history.
  • Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and escalate critical cases to the provider as needed.
  • Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG).
  • Provide patient information to providers.
  • Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files.
  • Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up on care.
  • Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment.
  • Maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment.
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed.
  • Collaborate with the ordering/treating Provider to determine which procedures or views will best assist in accurate diagnoses and treatment.
