NYU Langone Health is seeking a Technologist, X-Ray to perform medically prescribed radiographic procedures. This role involves maintaining supplies and cleanliness, assisting with special projects, and fostering professional relationships with patients and staff. The technologist will demonstrate skill in equipment utilization and maintenance, perform quality control checks, and operate imaging equipment safely and productively. They must recognize and report equipment malfunctions, handle medical emergencies appropriately, and adhere to radiation safety protocols, including shielding, beam restriction, and preventing accidental exposures. The role also includes managing radiation detection devices, performing image transmission to PACS, generating hard copies when needed, and preparing for future exams. The technologist will adapt work schedules for STAT and emergency cases, follow special instructions on requisitions, and independently implement patient procedures according to departmental protocols. They will explain procedures to patients, answer questions, ensure patient comfort and privacy, and position patients and equipment correctly for optimal image quality. The position requires proficiency in using positioning and immobilizing devices, understanding various protocols, and utilizing HIS and RIS systems for patient data verification, scheduling, and tracking. Documentation of exam times in RIS, knowledge of film library functions, and accessing patient information while maintaining confidentiality are also key. The technologist must correctly identify patients using two identifiers, verify information against requisitions, and consult policy manuals as needed. They will follow isolation precautions and assess patient status to perform appropriate procedures. Other duties as assigned.
