About The Position

This position is for a Radiologic Technologist who will operate routine radiographic equipment safely and proficiently under the direction of the Radiology Clinical Coordinator. The role requires the ability to produce high-quality radiographs with minimal repeats, manage multiple room assignments, and handle various types of exams daily. The technologist must effectively communicate with physicians, patients, families, and other hospital personnel. A significant aspect of the role involves overseeing first-year and indirectly second-year x-ray students, including assisting in their evaluation. The incumbent will also participate in performance improvement initiatives and support other departmental operations. A critical requirement is being available for 24-hour mandatory On-Call, necessitating a 30-minute return time to the hospital when called. Furthermore, the technologist must demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles across the life span, and accurately assessing patient data to meet age-specific needs as per the department's competency plan.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Registered, or be registry eligible, with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • ARRT certification is required within one year from the date of hire if not held at the time of hire.
  • Ability to be available for 24-hour mandatory On-Call.
  • Ability to return to the hospital within 30 minutes when called for On-Call duty.
  • Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all routine radiographic equipment safely and proficiently.
  • Produce high-quality radiographs with a minimum of repeats.
  • Handle multiple room assignments and all different types of exams daily.
  • Communicate with physicians, patients, families, and ancillary hospital personnel.
  • Directly oversee all duties assigned to first-year x-ray students.
  • Indirectly oversee all duties assigned to second-year students.
  • Assist in the evaluation of student progress.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with other activities as deemed necessary for the day-to-day operation of the department.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs.
  • Provide the care needed as described in the department's competency plan.
