About The Position

The Radiologic Technologist performs bone density exams two days per week. This role involves performing procedures on patients of all ages, adhering to approved protocols, radiation safety standards, and established exam indicators. The technologist will maintain patient and procedure documentation, stay knowledgeable about equipment and supplies for high-quality exams, and provide effective patient communication tailored to age and mental capacity. Some travel between sites is expected.

Requirements

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or provide proof of graduation from an ARRT acknowledged radiology program and be ARRT registered within 90 days of graduation.
  • Maintain an active Medical Imaging License issued by the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI).
  • Obtain and maintain an active Oregon license prior to providing any services in Oregon.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross at hire (ACLS and/or PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS).

  • Previous Radiologic Technologist experience in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform bone density exams on patients of all ages.
  • Adhere to approved protocols, radiation safety, and established exam indicators.
  • Maintain patient and procedure documentation.
  • Maintain knowledge of equipment and instruments/supplies pertinent to high-quality exams.
  • Provide effective internal and external patient communication consistent with age and mental capacity.
  • Support staff by performing various clinical duties as outlined in the SAMG Clinical Competency Manual, if working in a SAMG outpatient clinical setting.
  • Ensure accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to patients.
  • Perform ordered procedures according to departmental protocols and procedures, ensuring optimum exams are acquired efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Keep accurate and updated documentation of medications on inventory and medications utilized.
  • Maintain required inventory of instruments and supplies used in performance of procedures.
  • Maintain ability to properly set up and execute a sterile environment.
