About The Position

The Radiologic Technologist provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards to ensure optimal department functions. This role requires demonstrating skills and knowledge in the use of all x-ray equipment and performance of all x-ray protocols and procedures, as well as technical proficiency in producing high-quality exams within the appropriate length of time for each procedure.

Requirements

  • Clinical training received in Radiologic Technologist program (CHNOLA/EJGH)
  • Associate's Degree Radiologic Technology (CHNOLA/NOEH/TOURO/UMC)
  • High School Diploma / GED or equivalent (EJGH)
  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Certification (American Heart Association)
  • Radiography Certification (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist)
  • Radiology Technician Licensure (Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners)

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a satisfactory working knowledge of PACS and reviews scans with Radiologists as needed.
  • Confirms patient identity, body part, and body side for every patient prior to the procedure.
  • Administers sound patient care practices according to department and hospital policies.
  • Communicates effectively with patients to obtain clinical history/informed consent.
  • Explains procedures to patients/families and answers questions.
  • Recognizes and resolves clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams.
  • Responds and follows up on critical test findings.
  • Acquires and evaluates patient lab values when applicable.
  • Maintains equipment, exam rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition.
  • Checks and inspects the suite, equipment, and accessories daily for hazards.
  • Troubleshoots malfunctions and reports dangerous conditions.
  • Maintains work area in a clean, orderly fashion.
  • Checks stock supply levels and maintains supplies at par level.
  • Cleans and disinfects equipment and maintains a supply of linen.
  • Maintains quality control checks in accordance with policy requirements.
  • Participates in department QC and PI programs.
  • Maintains proper sterile technique and practices aseptic techniques.
  • Adheres to the hospital policy on body substance isolation.
  • Wears film badge while on duty and follows policy for badge results.
  • Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient departmental operations.
  • Accurately and legibly records required information on the requisition.
  • Performs other routine clerical duties as assigned.
  • Inputs and verifies all data in PACS/RADIANT.
