The Radiologic Technologist (RT) collaborates with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants in the examination and treatment of GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role involves providing various technical procedures, applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, performing and analyzing patient x-rays, and reporting results to Medical Providers. Additionally, the RT provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of GoHealth Urgent Care Centers and supports Medical Providers, Medical Assistants, and patients through tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire (obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA))
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration
  • Applicable state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist
  • Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement
  • Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology
  • Positioning patients properly for the X-ray procedure
  • Identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisors
  • Following infection control and radiological safety procedures

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Medical Providers and Medical Assistants through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication
  • Exercise professional judgment to provide health care services, which include x-ray to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups
  • Provide a variety of technical procedures and apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis for GoHealth Urgent Care patients
  • Perform and analyze patient x-rays and report results to Medical Providers
  • Provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of GoHealth Urgent Care Centers
  • Provide support to Medical Providers, Medical Assistants, and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication
  • Responsible for x-ray services as needed
  • Under the direction of the clinical provider, perform x-ray services for patients by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups from newborn to elderly
  • Ensure patients are positioned correctly on or in front of equipment and protected during use
  • Push patient in a wheelchair
  • Inform technical staff of patient flow
  • Prepare patients for examination, which includes conducting interviews to verify patient information, record medical history; confirm purpose of visit
  • Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and escalate critical cases to the provider as needed
  • Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG)
  • Provide patient information to providers
  • Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files
  • Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up on care
  • Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment
  • Maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed
  • Collaborate with the ordering/treating Provider to determine which procedures or views will best assist in accurate diagnoses and treatment
  • Support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly
  • Explaining procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety, and answering their questions
  • Accurately positioning patients and equipment for optimal imaging results
  • Selecting proper ionizing factors by adjusting/setting radiographic controls to capture clear, high-quality diagnostic images
  • Performing routine maintenance, cleaning of X-ray equipment, and managing necessary supplies
  • Adhering to strict radiation safety protocols and implementing ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) to minimize exposure to patients and staff
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and logging of completed procedures in electronic systems and/or logbooks as required
  • Verifying image quality and ensuring images are sent to radiologists for interpretation
