The Radiologic Technologist must have knowledge in the areas of diagnostic radiology, fluoroscopy, trauma radiology, portable radiology, and surgery. They must possess the specific expertise and skills necessary for maintaining a safe radiological environment daily. The radiologic technologist understands basic anatomy, physiology, and physics as they pertain to patient care. This role involves providing imaging services and transportation to patients of all ages, from neonate to geriatric, and ensuring proper patient identification, correct exam, and improved patient communication and engagement using I Care principles. The technologist upholds all safety standards, follows established protocols and guidelines for their area of expertise, and observes JCAHO standards. They prioritize customer and patient satisfaction using AIDET principles, collaborate with other departments for optimal patient care, and practice good stewardship with supplies, equipment, and department resources to support the financial viability of the DCH Health System. Responsibilities include understanding clinical history, supply and exam charges, following billing practices, correlating clinical history with exams, practicing radiation safety and dose reduction, administering contrast/medications, participating in quality control, and maintaining equipment. The role also involves instructing and supervising student technologists and new employees, with potential rotation through different work areas/shifts/campuses. Charge techs or lead techs, when assigned, coordinate services and act as a liaison. Per Diem staff have specific holiday and availability requirements. The technologist must function proficiently with minimal supervision and adhere to DCH Standards, including performance, patient and employee satisfaction, financial standards, compliance requirements, and DCH Behavioral Standards. Essential job functions must be performed safely, identifying and reducing risks and hazards. Use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software, and intranet is required. All DCH Health System policies and procedures must be followed, along with any other assigned duties.
