About The Position

As a vital member of the team, the Radiologic Technologist plays an important role in the patient care community within a setting renowned for clinical excellence. The Radiologic Technologist applies prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis to patients. They assess patients prior to, during, and after procedures according to CMC Guidelines. They evaluate and position patients to obtain quality images with a high degree of professional ethics, care, courtesy, patience, and safety. The role may involve performing IV contrast injections, urinary catheterizations, and/or other procedures as required. They observe patients for adverse reactions and assist in aid when necessary. The technologist operates highly specialized fluoroscopic and radiographic equipment including CR (Computed Radiography) and DR (Digital Radiography). They may need to use PACS (Picture Archive Communication System). They assist patients, which may include scheduling, registration, file management and utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records). The role also involves training students and staff as assigned. They participate as part of a team to provide specific patient care functions and assure informed consent and patient education. Communication with physicians, nursing staff, other hospital staff, and patients is essential. The technologist will cross-train in basic laboratory phlebotomy and operate laboratory waived testing equipment (site specific) according to CLIA regulations. They prepare patients for examination and explain procedures. They evaluate lab results, patient history and relay to the radiologist or procedure performing physician. All procedural data is recorded and maintained. Imaging procedures are performed in the Emergency Department, Inpatient, and Operating Room settings, providing trauma care, IV contrast injections, and other skills as required. The technologist assists the physician during radiological or sterile diagnostic procedures.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology required.
  • No experience required.
  • ARRT registry or registry eligible.
  • AHA BLS-HCP required.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills required.
