About The Position

Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures and related techniques, administering x-radiation to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation. This role involves operating imaging equipment, positioning patients, determining radiographic techniques, and ensuring radiation protection. The technologist will also process images, use radiology information systems, and assist with medical records and image sharing. Additionally, the role includes preparing contrast media and assisting in its administration, as well as operating mobile radiologic equipment in various settings like the operating room, emergency room, or at the patient's bedside. The position also involves providing practical instruction for radiography students and partners.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
  • ARRT Radiography registration required
  • IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois
  • WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) to Three (3) years experience preferred
  • Will consider new graduates

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic radiographic, portable, c-arm procedures.
  • Reviews patients’ clinical history ensuring that appropriate order placed and labs are within range as needed- reviewing with radiologist as necessary.
  • Provides patient education.
  • Selects and operates imaging equipment, image capture devices and accessories to successfully perform procedures.
  • Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Initiates basic life support when necessary.
  • Determines radiographic technique and exposure factors.
  • Follows ALARA principles through accurate exposure factors and radiographic techniques.
  • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
  • Reports and documents XR safety incidents/ adverse events per protocol.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
  • Uses radiology information systems (including PACS), completes all required records and reports, submits images and data for physician review and interpretation.
  • Assist with medical record/image sharing as necessary.
  • Documents all information pertinent to XR/FL procedure in electronic medical record to include medication reconciliation.
  • Provides practical instruction for radiography students and partners.
  • Applies principles of patient safety during procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.
  • Operates mobile radiologic equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside.
  • Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
  • Prepares contrast media and assists in administration.
