This role involves collaborating with Medical Providers and Medical Assistants, exercising professional judgment to provide health care services including x-ray for diagnosis or treatment across all age groups. The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants in the examination and treatment of GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures, applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, and performing and analyzing patient x-rays, reporting results to Medical Providers. Additional responsibilities include providing administrative support for efficient operation of the centers. The RT will support Medical Providers, Medical Assistants, and patients through tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire (obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA).
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required.
  • Applicable state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required.
  • Experience in a clinical setting preferred
  • Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
  • Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
  • Positioning patients properly for the X-ray procedure required.
  • Identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisors.
  • Following infection control and radiological safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Medical Providers and Medical Assistants through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication.
  • Exercise professional judgment to provide health care services, which include x-ray to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups.
  • Perform and analyze patient x-rays and report results to Medical Providers.
  • Provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of GoHealth Urgent Care Centers.
  • Prepare patients for examination, including conducting interviews to verify patient information and record medical history.
  • Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and escalate critical cases to the provider as needed.
  • Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG).
  • Provide patient information to providers.
  • Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files.
  • Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up on care.
  • Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment.
  • Maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed.
  • Collaborate with the ordering/treating Provider to determine which procedures or views will best assist in accurate diagnoses and treatment.
  • Support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly.
  • Explaining procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety, and answering their questions.
  • Accurately positioning patients and equipment for optimal imaging results.
  • Selecting proper ionizing factors by adjusting/setting radiographic controls to capture clear, high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Performing routine maintenance, cleaning of X-ray equipment, and managing necessary supplies.
  • Adhering to strict radiation safety protocols and implementing ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and logging of completed procedures in electronic systems and/or logbooks as required.
  • Verifying image quality and ensuring images are sent to radiologists for interpretation.
