About The Position

The Radiologic Technologist assists physicians and other staff members in providing patient care by producing high-quality radiographs. This role involves understanding and executing radiology requisitions, operating various imaging equipment, and ensuring patient safety and comfort during procedures. The technologist is also responsible for maintaining equipment, managing supplies, and potentially assisting medical assistants with clinical tasks.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited two-year radiologic technology program or equivalent military training
  • Completion of coursework required for appropriate state licensure and certification(s) (if applicable)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Command of radiographic technique
  • Command of medical imaging system(s)
  • Vast knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy
  • Ability to work independently
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA requirements
  • Valid Driver’s License and satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR) may be required (MVR will be screened on an annual basis)

  • Previous orthopaedic experience

Responsibilities

  • Understand and carry out radiology requisitions and views
  • Memorize what views each physician requires on exams
  • Assist patients in getting into the positions required to get the radiographs needed with the occasional need to lift the patient
  • Take X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety
  • Stock necessary supplies
  • Use a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials
  • Assist with and provide direct training and supervision to student technologists
  • Ensure equipment is in working order and report any malfunction to supervisor in a timely manner
  • Operate all portables and C-Arm equipment (if applicable)
  • Provide back up support to Medical Assistants, which includes rooming patients, transcribing, entering tests and procedures, EMR documentation, reviewing initial vital signs, assisting with minor procedures (e.g. suture/staple removal), assisting with DME placement/removal, and ensuring all equipment and exam rooms are sterilized and clean/stocked (if applicable)
  • Import and upload outside CDs for clinic
