About The Position

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for applying ionizing radiation to demonstrate portions of the human body on a radiographic, fluoroscopic screen, or other imaging modality to assist the physician in the diagnosis of disease or injury. Certain Radiologic Technologist positions may be designated to perform standard mammography images. The incumbent works under the general guidance, supervision and direction of the Medical Imaging Manager. Additionally, the incumbent works under the daily operational oversight of the Radiologic Technologist Team Leader. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Radiology technology program.
  • Valid Wisconsin Radiographer license.
  • Registered or registry eligible radiologic technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Possession of or eligibility for a valid Healthcare Provider CPR/AED certificate (must obtain certification within four (4) months of employment).
  • Ability to travel to various work sites.
  • Knowledge of general anatomy.
  • Knowledge of the physical and operational characteristics of radiographic equipment.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices utilized in radiographic examination, and knowledge of radiation exposure techniques.
  • Ability to recognize normal and abnormal structures in order to tailor the exam to answer the clinical question.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use/learn PACS archiving systems.
  • Knowledge of and ability to adhere to OSHA standards and other patient care protocols.
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and use computer-based applications such as MS Office, electronic medical record systems and scheduling applications.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to be culturally sensitive and to work with a diverse patient population.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of interviewing practices and techniques used in order to gather information.
  • Ability to recognize, identify and report problems to appropriate personnel.
  • Knowledge of medical records and appropriate documentation.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to stand for up to 90% of a workday.
  • Ability to lift from waist level and carry loads ranging from 15-50 lbs.
  • Ability to push and pull radiographic equipment.
  • Ability to handle, finger, control left or right hand and reach (above shoulder, over 18" and to the floor).
  • Near and midrange vision.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of radiologic experience.
  • Possession of a valid, Wisconsin driver license if the employee is operating a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Applying ionizing radiation to demonstrate portions of the human body on a radiographic, fluoroscopic screen, or other imaging modality to assist the physician in the diagnosis of disease or injury.
  • Performing standard mammography images (certain positions may be designated).
  • Floating to other work sites/clinics as assigned to serve as backup and provide coverage during staff absences, position vacancies or when patient needs exceed staffing resources.
  • Maintaining current continuing medical education credits.
  • Adhering to OSHA standards and other patient care protocols.
  • Gathering information through interviewing practices and techniques.
  • Recognizing, identifying and reporting problems to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Representing the organization in a positive manner.
  • Promoting the organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behavior and attitude.
