About The Position

This job delivers individualized healthcare services to patients, providing support to patients and physicians throughout their visit. Performs routine radiographic procedures, under the supervision of a physician licensed to practice medicine by the board, safely and according to protocols, assessing patient needs, communicating effectively electronically and in person, documenting medical information, and acting as a clinical mentor to junior staff and students. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience as a medical assistant.
  • Licensed by the Board of Examiners as a Private Radiologic Technologist in state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a formal medical assistant training program.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for their visit by completing necessary documentation and explaining procedures, answering any questions prior to leaving.
  • Cleans and prepares the examination room for the next appointment.
  • Verifies physician orders and procedures to ensure provider is prepared for the visit.
  • Independently operates equipment, including radiology information systems, to complete imaging procedures according to protocols.
  • Performs radiology imaging according to LSBME standards and guidelines adhering to ALARA principle.
  • Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images diagnostic quality standards are met.
  • Performs quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards in a timely manner and perform notification/remediation.
  • Assists with departmental operations including inventory, staff schedules, and equipment maintenance.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
