About The Position

This is a PRN position for a Radiologic Technologist specializing in Mammography. The role involves operating x-ray equipment to create diagnostic quality images of the body with minimal patient discomfort. The technologist reports to the Radiologist and Imaging Manager for clinical purposes. Key responsibilities include performing mammographic views, diagnostic studies, maintaining patient records, and ensuring a positive patient experience. The position also emphasizes good interpersonal relationships, public relations, staying informed, safe patient handling, reliable attendance, and performing duties safely and in compliance with all policies and procedures. Other duties may be assigned by the Imaging Manager/Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • ARRT license
  • State of Maine license
  • BLS certification
  • Ability to use multiple computer systems

  • One year’s experience preferred although not required

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily printer QC strip and log in manual.
  • Perform weekly QC and log in manual, if designated.
  • Perform high quality positioning of mammographic views.
  • Perform diagnostic studies and review with Radiologist.
  • Enter each patient in Excel spreadsheet.
  • Enter daily totals in Excel spreadsheet.
  • Provide a relaxed atmosphere for patients.
  • Perform weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual QC tests, if designated.
  • Assist in maintenance of mammography database in Cerner, if designated.
  • Promote good interpersonal relationships within the department by treating other staff members with courtesy and respect along with handling conflict in an appropriate manner.
  • Promote good public relations by demonstrating courtesy and professionalism in all dealings inside and outside the facility.
  • Seek out needed information by staying informed and involved by attending meetings, reading memos, policies, meeting minutes, newsletters, email and other appropriate information in a timely manner.
  • Use patient handling equipment appropriate to the needs of the individual patient in keeping with the Safe Patient and Handling and Movement Policy.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality, including observing appropriate break times and extending a scheduled shift when necessary to meet patient demands.
  • Perform duties in a safe manner, in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Comply with the Code of Conduct and all appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with management to improve the effectiveness of the department through the Quality Improvement plans and processes.
  • Participate in the departmental and hospital-wide Quality Improvement activities as directed by the manager.
  • Adhere to the federal, state, and local statutes and regulations.
  • Adhere to the Compliance Program policies and procedures of DECH.
  • Adhere to all Privacy and Security policies and procedures of DECH.
  • Communicate any concern related to compliance issues to manager of department or Compliance Officer.
  • Communicate any concern related to confidentiality issues to the Privacy Officer.
