Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Radiological Technology.
  • One year of recent related work experience which may be obtained through practical education/training that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities required.
  • American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) required.
  • State of Washington Certification as a Radiologic Technologist required.
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience involving the current technical aspects of patient care in a radiology department is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and performing radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures in various locations including (but not limited to) clinics, emergency room, special procedures room, surgery, or patient rooms, to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries.
  • Operating the radiographic equipment to produce radiographic recorded images of the body.
  • Performing technological functions to ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care utilizing efficient and safe processes that are in keeping with department protocols and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Preparing/operating radiology equipment for the correct size, depth and detail of a requested exposure area, based on physicians’ orders and in adherence to department protocols.
  • Explaining procedures to patients and responding to questions.
  • Utilizing equipment/accessories and employing techniques/procedures to comfort and protect the patient, self and others from unnecessary radiation.
  • Utilizing equipment/accessories and employing techniques/procedures to ensure that results are consistent.
  • Cleaning equipment after each use.
  • Delivering patient care for all age groups while performing radiological exams/procedures and/or special procedures.
  • Acting as a liaison between the patient and the radiologist; comforting and protecting the patient, self and others from unnecessary radiation.
  • Regularly performing basic functions in regard to patient care.
  • Responding to emergency situations consistent with scope of authority.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records by documenting the patient chart with pertinent information.
  • Advising nursing staff of any significant change in patient’s condition while in Diagnostic Imaging.
  • Performing incidental general office duties to include; answering phone; scheduling; filing; maintaining patient records; ordering supplies.
  • Participating in the ordering and inventorying of equipment and supplies.
  • Participating in the training of the Radiological Technology student.
  • Offering instruction to assist student in broadening knowledge of the profession.
