The Radiologic Technologist in Interventional Radiology is responsible for proficiently operating angiographic and ultrasound equipment to perform a wide range of basic to advanced procedures on inpatients and outpatients. This role requires proficiency in specific procedures such as neuroendovascular, interventional radiology, and interventional cardiology, including carotid stenting, cerebral intervention, kyphoplasty, chemotherapy, embolization, and aortic aneurysm repair. The technologist will assist with interventional and surgical procedures as a scrub assistant, demonstrating competent knowledge of equipment and working seamlessly with physicians. They will serve as a resource for procedural equipment options, monitor patients for life-threatening changes, and be prepared to apply defibrillators and perform CPR when necessary. Additionally, the role involves identifying and processing images for diagnostic quality, assisting with digital equipment evaluation, comparing requisitions to physician orders, and post-processing images with accurate labeling. Maintaining records, entering patient data into the radiology information system, and documenting billing codes are also key responsibilities. The technologist will act as a technical resource, role model, and preceptor for students and staff, and collaborate with other departments for patient education and process improvement. Performing patient positioning and transporting duties, which involve lifting and pushing/pulling, is also required. The role necessitates demonstrating knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles, and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
