About The Position

Radiologic Technologists provide exams in the field of radiologic imaging to include diagnostic x-ray, c-arm, and bone density to the specifications of the ordering provider and radiologist’s needs. Maintains knowledge concerning radiation protection and safety in addition to infection control and standard precautions. Preform patient assessments and provide patient care in a timely, professional, efficient, and safe manner. May be required to provide coverage for other outreach sites located in Mt. Pleasant, North Charleston, and West Ashley.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or within 12 months of hire.
  • Registry eligible candidates must hold a Temporary B license from South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards.
  • Registered Technologists state license from South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards.
  • BLS certification.
  • At least two years of modality specific work experience required.
  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • Fully competent in advanced modality skill sets and flexible to rotate.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiologic examinations timely, accurately and safely for radiologist interpretation.
  • Assure the radiology suite and adjacent clinical and common areas are prepared to receive patients/visitors.
  • Support culture of safety through system improvement, identifying barriers, and addressing problems of patient care.
  • Completes procedures following approved procedure protocols with sufficient speed to promote departmental efficiency.
  • Completes required documentation for each procedure, both computer and handwritten.
  • Introduces self to patients, explains the procedure, assists the patient at the end of the procedure and explains the next steps.
  • Obtains pertinent history, verifies orders, and communicates effectively with co-workers and other clinic staff to provide excellent patient care.
