About The Position

This recruitment is being given to fill 4 part-time positions in the San Joaquin General Hospital and to establish an eligible referral pool to fill future part-time opportunities. Requirements

Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, and certification by the Department of Health, State of California, as Radiologic Technologist or at the time of application, must provide verification that an application for Radiologic Technologist License in the State of California has been submitted and is pending.
Successful Completion of the San Joaquin General Hospital Radiologic Technologist School program.
New Graduates must receive California State License within 30 business days of hire date. Failure to obtain California State License within 30 business days from the date of hire may result in release from probation.
Methods and techniques of diagnostic radiography; various anatomical positions used in radiography; and care and use of radiographic equipment; and safety practices to prevent overexposure to radiation.
Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time, manual dexterity sufficient to administer procedures and operate equipment, bend, stoop and lift patients; understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions in exact detail; demonstrate the operation of x-ray equipment in practical work situations; position patients for a variety of radiography procedures; work effectively with medical staff, patients, and co-workers; and maintain records.

Responsibilities

Prepares and positions patients for diagnostic x-ray films; determines the correct exposure factors on the basis of height, weight, portion of body involved and degree of penetration required; selects appropriate cones and screens to reduce secondary radiation and fogging; sets machine control and exposes the required number and type of film.
Learns to assist Radiologist in fluoroscopic and other minor interventional x-ray procedures; assembles equipment; measures and mixes barium and contrast media; maintains surveillance over patients, performs radiographs as necessary for the radiographic procedure.
Records patient information, patient identification numbers, and number and type of views taken in-patient log; maintains records as required.
Demonstrates procedures to students; monitors students' performance of procedures, correcting faulty technique and explaining appropriate methods.
May receive on-the-job instructions in mammography and related quality control and quality assurance documentation.
Develops exposed film using automatic processors.
