About The Position

Coming Soon to Chesterfield! Located at 10031 Nash Road, VCU Health Chesterfield Pavilion will be a four-story, approximately 100,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center and medical office building, bringing comprehensive, patient-centered outpatient care closer to residents in one of Virginia’s largest counties. Scheduled to open in April 2027, the state-of-the-art facility will bring together surgical services, diagnostics, infusion therapy, pharmacy services, innovative care models, and more in a single, convenient location for Chesterfield residents. We are hiring team members now to help build the future of outpatient care from the ground up in one of Virginia’s fastest-growing communities. The practice of radiography is performed by radiologic technologists responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation to humans of all ages (newborn to geriatric) for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. A radiographer performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner.

Requirements

Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT)
BLS
Successfully completed their 6-month orientation.
Experienced and competent in routine and complex studies.
Complete understanding of technical standards, scope of practice, department and health system policies, and safety and service standards.
Complete understanding of imaging equipment, image processing software, instrumentation, and ancillary patient care equipment.

Responsibilities

Perform all the duties of a Diagnostic Technologist I.
Safely administer contrast or other imaging agents including the identification of incompatibilities and/or interactions.
Assess a patient’s risk for allergic reaction to contrast media and other related medications prior to administration and following appropriate protocols for escalation of concerns.
Evaluate lab values prior to administering contrast media or other related medications and beginning the ordered examination.
Provide accurate explanations and instructions to the patient and family using age-appropriate language and verifying that the patient understands and agrees to the completion of the ordered exam.
Perform ordered exams or therapy in accordance with established imaging protocols while respecting the patient’s ability and comfort.
Adhere to policies and utilize protocols to determine that expected outcomes have been met.
Document deviations from protocol and/or patient-specific issues that may impact image quality.
Notify the appropriate health care provider when an immediate clinical response is necessary based on procedural findings, patient condition, or other relevant concerns that may impact patient safety or care.
Timely complete all required post-processing, image display, and transfer for physician review.
Demonstrate timely order closure, charge entry, and PACS QA completion.
Routinely cover open shifts as appropriate based on your level of competency.
