About The Position

The Carle BroMenn Cath Lab performs many exciting and innovative procedures including but not limited to: diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, electrophysiology, peripheral vascular, neuro interventional, and interventional radiology procedures. The Cath/IR RT produces quality imaging and assists the Interventionalist in performing invasive procedures; as well as technical hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation using automated techniques. Providing care to meet patient needs and handle other duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Registered in Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
  • Associate's Degree: Radiologic Technology

Responsibilities

  • Administers contrast material (when applicable), according to physician's request, by means of existing IV line or by performing venipuncture and placing IV line; recognizes and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.
  • Anticipates set-up and needs for invasive procedures.
  • Assists with inventory/supplies.
  • Checks for correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position.
  • Compiles pertinent clinical information pertaining to lab, pathology, etc.
  • Administers medication in compliance with scope of practice.
  • Documents accurately and completely.
  • Explains procedure to patient and provides for patient care- including comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality.
  • Performs all essential functions of the Invasive Lab Radiologic Technologist.
  • Performs on call duties and/or work variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs.
  • Required to float to all procedural areas.
  • Maintains a clean and neat work area.
  • Demonstrates competence in the operation of imaging, physiological monitoring, and related equipment; Performs basic troubleshooting for this equipment.
  • Able to work around and maintain a sterile field during procedures.
  • Administers and with holds contrast and treatment as appropriate.
  • Assess patients for allergies.
  • Function as a scrub and monitor technician on a rotating basis during procedures.
  • Assists physician during interventional procedures.
  • Able to take call after 6 months of orientation.
