About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a Radiologic Technologist for Ambulatory Surgery. This full-time position involves producing high-quality X-ray images in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to departmental policies and provider orders. The role requires a strong understanding of human anatomy, x-ray positioning, and the use of immobilization devices. While receiving training and supervision from senior technologists, the individual will take independent responsibility for performing general section studies, completing all associated documentation, and ensuring high-quality images for radiologist interpretation. Requirements

  • Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology required Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CRT - Certified Radiologic Technologist current NYS licensure upon hire required
  • ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists with CE credits upon hire required

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for producing high quality X-ray images by conducting exams in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Verifies and follows referring providers' orders while remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences departmental policies.
  • Possesses a sound understanding of human anatomy as well as x-ray positioning and the use of immobilization devices when warranted.
  • Receives training as well as regular direct supervision or guidance from a more senior technologist to perform proficiency of the required tasks.
  • Takes independent responsibility for performing general section studies in a safe and efficient manner, completing all associated paper and computer work while providing high quality images for radiologist interpretation.
  • Prepares room and patient per order.
  • Properly sets up equipment, positions patients, and determines proper exposure factors to produce a high quality image.
  • Utilizes electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam specific comments from the provider.
  • Understands and practices the Dual patient identifier procedure.
  • Maintains appropriate supplies in the X-ray rooms.
  • Produces a diagnostic, high quality image for interpretation by the Radiologist.
  • Transfers patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lift, transferboards, hover mats.
  • Maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and ensuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly.
  • Completes and bills for studies accurately.
  • May train new employees or lead day-to-day work activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
