About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a Radiologic Technologist 2 to join their Urgent Care department. This full-time position involves producing high-quality X-ray images, preparing rooms and patients, operating equipment, and ensuring patient safety and compliance with departmental policies. The role requires a strong understanding of anatomy, x-ray positioning, and the use of immobilization devices. The technologist will work with minimal supervision, demonstrate initiative, and may assist in training student technologists or new employees. Responsibilities also include patient transfers, maintaining accurate records, and completing associated paperwork and computer work. Additional duties may involve special projects and committee assignments.

Requirements

  • Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology required Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CRT - Certified Radiologic Technologist current NYS licensure upon hire required
  • ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists with CE credits upon hire required

Responsibilities

  • Produces high quality X-ray images by conducting exams in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Verifies and follows referring providers' orders while remaining in compliance with the Imaging Sciences departmental policies.
  • Possesses a sound understanding of human anatomy as well as x-ray positioning and the use of immobilization devices when warranted.
  • With minimal supervision, demonstrates proficiency and competence in all aspects of job responsibilities and expectations, and consistently demonstrates initiative to assist in other areas of the department when the need arises.
  • May work with student technologists to sign off on their required competencies while rotating through department.
  • Requires minimal supervision.
  • Completes all associated paper and computer work for discharging patients with appropriate post procedure instructions.
  • Additional duties may include working on special projects, such as new equipment evaluations and assisting in the design of areas where clinical equipment will be installed, or assignment to departmental committees.
  • Prepares room and patient per order.
  • Properly sets up equipment, positions patients, and determines proper exposure factors to produce a high quality image.
  • Utilizes electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam specific comments from the provider.
  • Understands and practices the Dual patient identifier procedure.
  • Maintains appropriate supplies in the X-ray rooms.
  • Produces a diagnostic, high quality image for interpretation by the Radiologist.
  • Transfers patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lift, transferboards, hover mats.
  • Maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and ensuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly.
  • Completes and bills for studies accurately.
  • May train new employees or lead day-to-day work activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
