About The Position

Responsible for performing radiographic procedures in a timely manner. Reviews all films for technical quality and positioning. Operates highly specialized equipment, including radiographic CR (computed Radiography), DR (Digital Radiography), and PACS (Picture Archive Communication System). Ensures that imaging equipment is in good working condition and reports equipment malfunctions and maintenance such as calibrations, care, and cleaning. Knows and practices downtime procedures. This includes maintenance and testing of shields, display monitors, tube, detector and calibration for all. Reviews patient orders and completes exam/procedure in EMR and PACS system for successful dictation. Provides patient imaging on a CD when requested; ensuring necessary paperwork is completed. Imports CDs into the PACS system when requested. Serves as a liaison between Ordering Providers and Radiologists and assists Providers with Radiology related questions. Orders x-ray supplies and maintains PPE by performing bi-annual lead apron checks. Complies with network drills, CPR requirements, license renewal, CEUs and other network or health system requirements. Serves as preceptor to radiology students and new radiology staff members. Recognizes and notifies appropriate personnel of adverse events or incidents (i.e. falls, vasovagal, wrong patient imaged, wrong laterality, etc.). Complies with annual skills competencies.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited ARRT Program.
  • Current BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of two (2) years.
  • Ability to perform quality radiographic procedures
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with others
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Follows good radiation safety practices; i.e. coning, shielding, quarterly dosimeter monitoring, according to state and federal guidelines.
  • Positions patients, provides immobilizations devices and selects proper technical factors on patients to obtain quality imaging.
  • Explains x-ray exam/procedure to patients and answers any questions.
  • Uses radiopaque anatomical side markers with technologist identifier on every image performed.
