The Radiologic Technologist, under the supervision of the Radiology Director, is responsible for arranging patients for radiological examinations in both the hospital and outpatient departments. This role involves producing X-rays to assist in diagnosing medical problems and ensuring patients are not exposed to unnecessary radiation. Key duties include the safe operation of C-Arm image intensifier equipment, as well as department and portable X-ray equipment, requiring knowledge of patient positioning, radiation safety, and employee protection. The technologist is expected to maintain a professional demeanor, uphold patient and facility confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, and report any violations of laws or the SP Code of Conduct. Continuous professional development is required through annual Healthstream continuing education. The position demands self-direction, accountability, professionalism, adaptability, and the ability to seek assistance when needed. The technologist must perform effectively under stress, demonstrating patience, stamina, endurance, and tact while providing excellent service. A collaborative attitude is essential, with a willingness to assist others and perform additional job duties as requested. The role may require interchanging between facility and hospital outpatient departments and involves setting priorities, timely decision-making, and consistent follow-through to achieve desired results.
