About The Position

This position is primarily responsible for maintaining and using equipment and supplies necessary to radiographically demonstrate portions of the human body on film and/or digital systems for diagnostic purposes. The Radiologic Technologist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school
  • Must maintain AART license in good standing

Responsibilities

  • Uses beam-restrictive devices and patient-shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patient and staff.
  • Provide radiographic examination of all body parts for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Must exercise professional judgment in performance of procedures, applying principles of radiation protection.
  • Prepares and sets up x-ray room for patient; Adjusts controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance; positions patient as appropriate and sets up and adjusts equipment to obtain optimum view of specific body area as requested by physician.
  • Determines patients’ x-ray needs by reading requests or instructions from physicians.
  • Makes exposures necessary for the requested procedures, rejecting and repeating work that does not meet established standards.
  • Processes exposed radiographs using film processors or computer-generated methods.
  • Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtains cooperation.
  • Maintains patient records and files.
  • Assumes responsibility for departmental quality assurance program involving the area of radiography.
  • Pursues continuing education to maintain ARRT license.
  • Transfers patient to and from radiology by utilizing proper transfer protocols.
  • Responsible for equipment care and maintenance.
  • Must be willing to stay until the last study of the day is complete and work various shifts.
  • Willing to learn other imaging modalities as the company requires.
  • Must be able to perform radiology duties in all remote site clinics and willing to work outside of assigned department.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and follows HIPAA guidelines.
