About The Position

Under General Supervision, the Radiologic Tech I prepares patients for and performs radiologic examinations. This role requires demonstrating mastery of all competencies of Radiology Technologist I, displaying flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability. The technologist must comply with organization-wide and department-specific policies and procedures, including having a working knowledge of policies. They will provide healthcare services to all age groups and demonstrate competence in interpersonal relationships with all age groups. The role involves assuming responsibility and accountability for professional growth and practice, including maintaining current licensure and completing educational requirements. Adherence to infection control guidelines, including good handwashing technique, isolation policy, and cleaning equipment between patients, is crucial. The technologist will orient and train new employees and students, and assist in the training and development of existing employees. Following the Universal Protocol by using two patient identifiers before working with a patient and using appropriate hand-off communication techniques (SBAR) when bringing patients to and from the department are essential. The role requires demonstrating the ability to problem-solve equipment failure, clerical errors, and interdepartmental conflicts. As an advanced skilled technologist, the individual will work with minimal supervision, exhibiting working relationships characterized by mutual support, open communication, trust, and respect. They will support co-workers by teaching/training new procedures, equipment usage, and proper technique, and recognize and perform duties that need to be performed even if not directly assigned. Troubleshooting equipment before service is called, reporting equipment malfunction to the proper personnel, initiating service, or notifying the Bio-medical Engineering department are key responsibilities. The technologist will report suggestions to the supervisor to increase productivity or quality of work and accept personal accountability for maintaining a safe work environment. Speaking up when others are taking safety risks and following rules designed for personal protection and environmental safety, including the safe use of equipment, are expected. Understanding and carrying out their role in department and organizational emergency and disaster plans in a prompt and effective manner is also required. Department-specific competencies include monitoring and reporting patient or family complaints to the Unit Lead, intervening before issues arise, and implementing service recovery strategies. The technologist will monitor and/or resolve issues on the RIS worklist for exams not completed or transcribed, on PACS for exams on the exceptions list, and on PACS primordial for QC issues, reporting all unresolved issues. They will order routine supplies as required to maintain appropriate stock levels, follow up on supplies that are back-ordered or delivered in error, and assist the supervisor in controlling unit supply costs. Following Lean principles and creating SOPs for the Department as needed are also part of the role. The technologist will assume on-call status and call back as assigned, responding within 30 minutes of receiving a call. They may perform duties of a shift lead if assigned, which includes assigning work duties for maximum efficiency, coordinating breaks to maintain adequate coverage, and displaying sound judgment in decision-making regarding patient care, assignments, and scheduling changes. The role also involves assuming the role of Clinical Instructor for radiologic technology students, coordinating and overseeing student files, department rotations, and overall compliance, as well as mentoring students and completing clinical evaluations.

Requirements

Graduate of Allied Health Education program in Radiology or accredited radiographic program or equivalent.
5 years Radiology Technologist I experience.
ARRT License for Radiologic Technologist
Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)
Fluoroscopy License
BCLS or ACLS Certification
