About The Position

The per diem Radiography Technologist Extern works under the supervision of a Certified Radiography Technologist and performs basic imaging procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. The role is part of Imaging Services, where patient safety, quality, customer service, teamwork, and collaboration are emphasized to improve patient outcomes and employee experience.

The position requires critical thinking, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited radiography technologist program, subject to document submission and verification.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited radiography technologist program, subject to document submission and verification.
• Requires critical-thinking and effective communication skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• BLS credential from an accepted provider or program: American Heart Association BLS E-Card, American Heart Association BLS RQI E-Card, American Heart Association non-E-Card BLS certification, Grace-period BLS certification, or Red Cross BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in reviewing patient history and physician orders.
• Inform patients about procedures and exams.
• Assist with patient positioning.
• Greet patients, verify prescriptions and providers, and schedule patients as needed.
• Communicate with departments to facilitate efficient care.
• Assist in preparing equipment and supplies.
• Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, bed, or neuro chair to designated sites as requested.
