About The Position

This is a substitute (per diem) opportunity for a Radiography Instructor. The role offers life-work balance and the chance to share knowledge and expertise with future Radiologic Technologists. The instructor will be responsible for implementing and evaluating daily lesson plans, instructing students in X-ray lab and radiology procedures, monitoring student attendance, preparing reports, and reviewing student success rates. They will also maintain student grades, evaluate performance, prepare lectures and demonstrations, and assist students with the Radiography program curriculum. The instructor may also coordinate externships and participate in the accreditation/assessment process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
  • Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Three (3) years of clinical experience in diagnostic radiography.
  • Knowledge of course development, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising.
  • Must hold current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration in Radiologic Sciences or equivalent (i.e., unrestricted state license for the state where the program is located).
  • Possess the academic and professional qualifications for their teaching assignment.
  • Current license, certification, or other credential required by local, state, and federal laws to work in the Radiologic Technology field.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of documented experience as an instructor in a JRCERT accredited Radiography program preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and evaluate daily lesson plans for students, including scheduled activities and materials for semesters.
  • Plan instruction to achieve specific objectives based on student needs and established curriculum.
  • Instruct students in X-ray lab and radiology procedures.
  • Monitor students' attendance in the program and coordinate with the Associate Director when absences occur two days in a row.
  • Prepare attendance reports weekly for the office management department.
  • Review student success rates and implement a plan to reduce student withdrawals.
  • Meet with students to encourage them to stay in the program.
  • Maintain an 80% student success rate for all classes taught in the program.
  • Maintain student grades by established policies.
  • Prepare final grades at the end of each semester to update student records and transcripts.
  • Evaluate students' performance regarding achievements in curriculum and activities, and make necessary provisions to meet learning needs.
  • Evaluate students’ clinical performance.
  • Prepare lectures, labs, and practical demonstrations for students in class and individually.
  • Assist and advise students with the Radiography program curriculum.
  • May assist and coordinate externships for Radiography students.
  • Participate in the accreditation/assessment process as tasked by the Program Director.
