About The Position
Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Radiographic Testing (RT) Auditor (temporary) to oversee and audit RT inspection activities during pipeline construction projects. This role ensures that all radiographic testing performed on pipeline welds and components complies with applicable codes, project specifications, and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in pipeline construction environments and a strong understanding of RT techniques used for weld inspection.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- RT Level II or III certification (ASNT, ISO 9712, or equivalent) is required.
- Minimum 5 years of RT experience in pipeline construction, including field-based inspection and auditing.
- Strong knowledge of pipeline welding processes and NDT requirements under API 1104.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and NDT data management/reporting software.
Nice To Haves
- Technical diploma or degree in NDT or engineering (preferred).
- Familiarity with digital RT systems and automated scanning tools is a plus.
- Multi-method NDT certification (e.g., MT, PT, UT).
- Experience with cross-country pipeline projects, HDD, and station piping.
- Experience working with EPC contractors and pipeline operators.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field audits of RT inspections on pipeline welds, including mainline, tie-ins, and repairs.
- Review and validate RT procedures, technician certifications, and inspection records in accordance with API 1104, and project-specific requirements.
- Monitor RT activities to ensure proper technique, equipment calibration, and data interpretation.
- Evaluate RT reports and radiographic images for accuracy and compliance.
- Identify and document non-conformances, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Interface with construction, welding, and QA/QC teams to ensure inspection readiness and quality control.
- Support third-party and client audits as the RT subject matter expert.
- Maintain detailed audit logs and prepare comprehensive reports for project stakeholders.
- Knowledge of current advancements in RT technologies, including digital radiography (DR) and computed radiography (CR).
