About The Position

The candidate will provide Radio Frequency (RF) Analysis, Simulation, and Development support for space-based RF communication systems with inter-operability integration across multiple US Government Customers. This position will require active security clearance to perform daily tasks. Support customer’s Moon Base Utilities and Infrastructure Group, Deep Space Communications Network, and future RF infrastructures.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Visual Basic, MathCAD and/or MatLab, ANSYS High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS), GPS/GNSS Simulators, and PNT / Communication Waveform Analyzers (BPSK, QAM, QPSK)
  • Must be a US Citizen and currently have an active US Secret Security Clearance with option to obtain Top Secret Clearance.
  • A degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • 15 or more years of experience in Antenna and RF systems design, test, and evaluation.
  • Ph.D., with minimum of 9+ years of experience, MS with at least 13+ years of experience, or BS with at least 15+ years of experience.
  • Ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%).
  • Ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%).
  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time (100%).
  • Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%).
  • Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (80%).
  • Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and our facilities (10%).
  • Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).
  • Normal workday 7:30-4:30, Monday thru Friday.
  • Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job.
  • Regular attendance is a necessity, and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%).
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analyses of existing transmitters, receivers, and antenna designs.
  • Participate in requirements and data reviews providing inputs and comments.
  • Support test campaigns in the internal and external laboratories.
  • Support and generate RF subsystem trade studies.
  • Perform link margin analyses using various modulation protocols and environmental influences.
  • Write or collaborate communication system design and analyses reports.
  • Project milestone reviews for customers and stakeholders.
  • Project technical interchange, planning, review, and other appropriate meetings required to maintain current knowledge base of design, requirements, issues, action items, and resolution activities.
  • Perform radio frequency interference/radio frequency compatibility analyses.
  • Organizational management reviews.
  • Mentor early-career and internship engineers.
