Radio Frequency (RF) Test Engineer

Hubble Network•Seattle, WA
•$105,000 - $175,000•Onsite

About The Position

As a Radio Frequency (RF) Test Engineer at Hubble, you'll help ensure the reliability, performance, and longevity of our satellite hardware. You'll develop and execute the test, validation, and quality-assurance strategies that qualify our wireless payloads, uncover weaknesses, and prove that our hardware can thrive in the harshest environments space has to offer — including radiation, thermal cycling, and mechanical stress. Your work will span the full lifecycle — from design validation through flight readiness and into volume production — and will be central to scaling reliable, mission-ready hardware as we build out the Hubble satellite constellation. You'll work closely with cross-functional hardware, software, and mechanical teams to ensure reliability from initial design through manufacturing and in-orbit operation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in hardware validation, test engineering, or RF systems testing
  • Experience in design, testing, and debugging of RF PCBAs, coupled with a thorough understanding of electronics reliability and failure mechanisms
  • Experience with test equipment (oscilloscope, VNA, spectrum analyzer, signal generator) and procedures for analysis, verification, and validation of RF products
  • Strong expertise in programming languages (Python, C/C++) for data analysis and test automation
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct root-cause failure analysis and implement corrective actions, with an emphasis on RF systems
  • Thorough understanding of metrology, sources of measurement error, and uncertainty analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze system requirements, decompose them into verifiable test cases, and maintain bidirectional traceability using industry-standard tools (e.g., Jira)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly cross-functional role
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident ('green card holder') as defined by ITAR.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with environmental testing such as thermal, vibration, and TVAC
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing, assembling, and testing of electronic components
  • Experience developing automated test systems and test fixtures for production environments
  • Experience analyzing the impact of radiation on electronic components and strategies to mitigate it
  • Familiarity with NASA and MIL-spec test and workmanship standards for space hardware (e.g., MIL-STD-810/883, NASA/IPC J-STD-001ES)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute test, validation, and quality-assurance strategies for satellite hardware.
  • Qualify wireless payloads and identify weaknesses.
  • Prove hardware reliability in harsh space environments (radiation, thermal cycling, mechanical stress).
  • Support the full lifecycle from design validation to flight readiness and volume production.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional hardware, software, and mechanical teams.
  • Ensure reliability from initial design through manufacturing and in-orbit operation.
