About The Position
Under the direction of physicians and physicists, assists in the planning, set-up and delivery of a therapeutic dose of radiation to minimal but adequate volume of tissue while preserving normal tissue as much as possible.
Requirements
- Graduate of 2 year Radiation Therapist Program
- NYS Licensure as Radiation Therapist required OR must hold NYS permit and obtain licensure within six months of hire.
- New Graduates: -Official transcript from accredited school or letter emailed directly from the school’s registrar’s office confirming program completion will be accepted upon graduation. -Primary source education verification required within 90 days of graduation.

Responsibilities
- Performs simulations for treatment under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist.
- Correctly fabricates immobilization devices and custom shielding as necessary.
- Delivers the therapeutic doses of Radiation according to the prescription written by the Radiation Oncologist.
- Takes port films, labels and has them checked appropriately.
- Under the direction of the medical physicist, ensures Quality Control Procedures on equipment.
- Records in treatment records, including dose addition, documentation of port films, adjustments in prescriptions, diagrams, blocking and landmarks.
- Schedules patient appointments.
- Keeps daily Log Sheets, including documentation of inpatients, finishes, new courses, new patients, electron patients and non-malignant cases.
- Keeps records necessary for department statistics.
- Participates in the clinical instruction of Radiation Therapy students.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
