About The Position

Operates radiation and auxiliary equipment, processes images, and maintains and cleans equipment. Maintains required documentation.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • New York State and/or Connecticut Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience performing radiologic exams.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for exam, relieving anxiety by translating the examination into layman's terms and ensuring consent forms are obtained if necessary.
  • Performs various x-ray exams according to established standards and procedures, positioning patients, arranging immobilization devices, and adjusting x-ray equipment for correct exposure.
  • Monitors patient's condition according to technical and safety standards, recognizing and reporting abnormalities to the Radiologist.
  • Keys in patient history data and other pertinent information.
  • Monitors patient's condition during the procedure.
  • Operates equipment for transferring computed images to film and archival of disc memory to tape.
  • Processes and maintains exposed images, labels film for identification, and maintains required records.
  • Utilizes film markers to ensure images are properly marked as "right" or "left" side.
  • Ensures images are legibly labeled with correct date and patient identification.
  • Enters the exam onto the daily log sheet as needed.
  • Properly completes the correct tracking steps for each examination.
  • Performs related duties as required.
