This role involves using radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and ensure the safety of patients and staff. The Radiation Therapist prepares and administers radiation therapy to patients using appropriate equipment under the direction of a physician. They explain test procedures and safety precautions to patients and assist them during procedures. Responsibilities include calculating, measuring, and recording radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used, and disposed of, using a computer and following a physician's prescription. The role also involves collecting and analyzing data from computer-generated images for physician interpretation, following directives from physicians, radiology management, and hospital administration, and participating in all department and hospital-directed Quality Assurance activities. Other duties as directed by management are also part of this role.
