About The Position

A Radiation Therapist administers targeted radiation treatments to patients with cancer and other conditions under the direction of a radiation oncologist. They operate advanced radiation therapy equipment, ensure precise treatment delivery, monitor patient safety, and provide supportive care throughout the treatment process for diseases such as Cancer.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy or Radiologic Technology.
  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy (ARRT-T).
  • State licensure if required by the state of employment.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety standards and oncology treatment procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed radiation treatments according to the plan developed by a radiation oncologist.
  • Operate advanced radiation therapy equipment such as a Linear Accelerator to deliver radiation safely and accurately.
  • Position patients precisely using immobilization devices and imaging guidance.
  • Verify treatment parameters and ensure accuracy before each session.
  • Monitor patients during treatment and respond to any adverse reactions.
  • Maintain detailed records of treatments and patient responses.
  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and oncology nurses.
  • Follow radiation safety protocols and regulatory guidelines.
  • Provide education and emotional support to patients undergoing radiation therapy.
  • Participate in quality assurance and equipment checks.
