About The Position

Vanderbilt Health is seeking an ARRT-certified Radiation Therapist to join our Radiation Oncology team at The Vanderbilt Clinic in Nashville, Tennessee. This full-time opportunity offers the chance to provide advanced radiation therapy treatments utilizing state-of-the-art technology within a nationally recognized academic medical center. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play an essential role in delivering safe, accurate, and compassionate cancer care to both adult and pediatric patients. Working alongside radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, nurses, and fellow radiation therapists, you will help provide exceptional patient care while utilizing advanced treatment technologies, including Varian Linear Accelerators, CT Simulation, IMRT, IGRT, and image-guided radiation therapy. This position is ideal for an experienced Radiation Therapist seeking to practice at the top of scope within a collaborative, patient-centered Radiation Oncology program dedicated to innovation, clinical excellence, and outstanding patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • ARRT Certification in Radiation Therapy [ARRT (T)]
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program.
  • Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Radiation Therapist in a Radiation Oncology, cancer center, or hospital-based oncology setting.
  • Experience operating Varian Linear Accelerators.
  • CT Simulation experience.
  • Experience with IMRT, IGRT, 3DCRT, and image-guided radiation therapy workflows.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment.
  • Strong understanding of radiation therapy treatment delivery and oncology patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver prescribed external beam radiation therapy treatments safely and accurately.
  • Operate Varian Linear Accelerators and perform daily machine warm-ups, quality checks, and equipment verifications.
  • Perform CT Simulation procedures to support radiation treatment planning.
  • Support treatment delivery utilizing 3D Conformal Radiation Therapy (3DCRT), Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), and Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT).
  • Prepare and utilize immobilization devices to ensure accurate patient positioning and treatment reproducibility.
  • Verify treatment parameters in collaboration with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and medical physicists.
  • Review treatment documentation and maintain accurate records within the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Adhere to all radiation safety standards, quality assurance procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Educate patients and families regarding radiation therapy procedures and treatment expectations.
  • Provide compassionate support throughout the patient’s cancer treatment journey.
  • Collaborate closely with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members.
  • Support treatment services for both adult and pediatric oncology populations.
  • Contribute to efficient clinic workflow and daily operations.
  • Administers daily radiation therapy treatments to patients assigned to the treatment unit, accurately and efficiently, at a speed consistent with patient scheduling for pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.
  • Maintains records of daily treatment and other records as required.
  • Participates in orientation and training of all new radiation therapists to include treatment unit-specific procedures and protocols, on call-procedures, simulation procedures and protocols and provides feedback in a timely manner to clinic director.
  • Performs computed tomography (CT) simulation procedures and clinical simulations according to established department protocols.
