About The Position

A radiation therapist as a part of the care team treats patients with cancer and other diseases through the use of radiation treatments. The Radiation Therapist maintains patient charts, noting such information as the area treated, the radiation dosage, equipment control settings, the patient's reactions, and the total amount of radiation received to date. Consults with radiation oncologists and other clinical staff as needed.

Requirements

Associate's or bachelor's degree in medical imaging
Valid radiation therapy license/certification
ARRT certification
BLS Certification

Responsibilities

Explains procedures to patient/family accurately and to customer satisfaction.
Maintains certifications, licensure and job related/accreditation competencies and requirements.
Acts as patient’s advocate prior, during and following exams.
Maintains accurate patient records and documents pertinent data and patient information completely.
Reviews patient history and obtains appropriate order.
Discusses and explains the treatment plans to patients.
Administers radiation treatment safely, in consultation with oncology team.
Calibrates, operates and maintains radiation machine.
Ensures accurate delivery of treatment using medical imaging equipment.
Advises patients on treating side effects of therapy.
Maintains detailed records of treatments and progress.
Supports team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
