About The Position

Johns Hopkins Intrastaff, the internal staffing agency for Johns Hopkins Health System, is seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join the team at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. The Radiation Therapist administers prescribed radiation treatments under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist and the supervision of department leadership. Responsibilities include operating radiation oncology equipment, including CT simulators, linear accelerators, treatment planning systems, and quality assurance devices, while ensuring safe and effective patient care.

Requirements

  • ARRT certification required
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • CPR BLS certification required
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist in a relevant setting
  • Working knowledge of all radiological equipment in the Radiation Oncology Department. Functional knowledge of, linear accelerators, CT simulator, computer equipment, printers, various radiation dosimeters, diode system, automatic film processors.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver prescribed radiation therapy treatments accurately and safely in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols.
  • Verify patient identity and treatment plans prior to each treatment session.
  • Prepare treatment rooms, equipment, and patient positioning to ensure precise treatment delivery.
  • Operate and maintain radiation oncology equipment, including linear accelerators, CT simulators, dosimetry, and treatment verification systems.
  • Monitor patients throughout treatment and respond appropriately to clinical changes or emergencies.
  • Educate patients on treatment procedures and reinforce guidance regarding potential side effects.
  • Administer contrast media and assist with simulation and treatment planning procedures as needed.
  • Maintain accurate treatment documentation, billing records, and quality assurance data.
  • Adhere to all radiation safety, infection prevention, and regulatory standards.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and report operational concerns to leadership.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining patient privacy, dignity, and comfort.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to support department needs, including schedule adjustments, weekends, holidays, and emergency treatments as required.
