Radiation Therapist - Schaumburg Full Time - 40 hours per week. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Radiation Therapist to join our growing oncology team and deliver best-in-class care in a modern, patient-centered environment.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited course study in Radiation Oncology Technology.
  • Preferred ARRT(T) registered or meets eligibility requirements for examination. Examination must be completed within six months of eligibility
  • Licensure by State of Illinois - IEMA Division of Nuclear Safety
  • Obtains continuing education credits as required
  • Maintains CPR certification

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer a minimum of one year of professional radiation therapist experience in a clinical or hospital setting

Responsibilities

  • Takes steps and follows procedures to secure and safeguard patient and confidential information.
  • Assesses patient's condition, age, size and other medical conditions to best determine if treatment can be performed within the prescribed plan.
  • Review radiation oncologist's prescribed dose prior to the administration of radiation; checks to ensure that prescribed doses are mathematically correct and when needed, consults with the radiation physicist and/or treatment plan to determine factors for treatment.
  • Assists and monitors patient during treatment; recognizes significant complications, notes, problems, complaints or occurrences; notifies physician as needed.
  • Able to answer patient questions and provide emotional support as needed.
  • Operates specialized radiation therapy equipment; recognizes malfunctions and refers service as needed; selects technical factors per treatment plan.
  • May arrange patient transportation to and from the department to provide patient care.
  • Provides patient / significant other education and explanation of procedures being performed.
  • Explains waiting times in excess of established protocol.
  • Assists radiation oncologist / physicist with brachytherapy procedures.
  • Maintains records of treatments and doses administered according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Performs chart checks as required; assists physicist with record keeping.
  • Will perform all other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
