About The Position

The Radiation Therapist is responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for therapeutic purposes in accordance with the prescription of the Radiation Oncologist. This role is accountable for the simulation of patients in preparation for radiation therapy, basic patient care, and education. Requirements

  • Radiology Tech License in the state of practice, if applicable.
  • Certification in Radiation Therapy from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy.
  • Education must be obtained from an accredited institution.
  • Degree will be verified.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets and implements prescription and treatment plan.
  • Delivers and charts all simulation and treatment summaries.
  • Performs simulation procedures and prepares immobilization devices.
  • Obtains accurate measurements, contours, and other information as needed for dosimetry purposes.
  • Assesses treatment machines and performs daily equipment warm-up and quality assurance procedures.
  • Assists in clinical training and evaluation of student therapists if applicable.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Responsible for basic patient care during treatment delivery, assists with patient education, observes and monitors day-to-day clinical progress of patients for signs of treatment symptoms.
  • Provides accurate daily billing information for all treatment related procedures.
  • Responsible for scheduling and treating patients in a timely and professional manner.
