About The Position

University Cancer & Blood Center (UCBC) is seeking a full-time Radiation Therapist to join their growing and dynamic team. This role offers a Monday-Friday schedule with no nights, weekends, or on-call duties.

Requirements

Associate or Bachelor's degree (preferred)
RTT Board Certification
Licensed in the state they are hired to work in
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in good standing without past or present disciplinary actions
ARRT Certified Radiation Therapy
1 year of experience (preferred)
Ability to be on feet for long periods
Ability to lift and move patients who need assistance
Detail oriented

Responsibilities

Administers prescribed doses of radiation to specific body parts using radiation therapy equipment.
Positions patients accurately for treatment.
Prepares equipment, including immobilization, treatment, and protection devices.
Performs machine safety checks, understands safe equipment operation limits, and reports any abnormalities.
Follows radiation protection principles for patients, self, and others.
Collaborates with the Radiation Oncologist and therapy team to create customized treatment plans.
Educates, prepares, and reassures patients and their families by answering questions, providing physical assistance, and reinforcing physician's advice.
Observes patients during treatment, reassures them, and reports any unusual reactions to the physician.
Checks for side effects such as skin irritation, nausea, and hair loss.
Documents treatment details, dosage, and patient reactions in the patient chart.
Reviews prescriptions, diagnoses, patient charts, and identification.
Photographs treated areas of patients and processes film.
Performs CT Simulation on a rotating basis.
Steps in and performs duties as needed.
