This position develops procedures for the Radiation Safety and Security Program to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. It implements policies and procedures in the Radiation Safety Program to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and to maintain personal exposures As Low As Reasonably Achievable. The role provides training and guidance to Facility Radiation Safety Officers to ensure that Radiation Safety Program policies and procedures are effective and implemented correctly. It conducts annual Radiation Safety and Security Program audits in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations and prepares and submits written reports. The position assists in maintaining STERIS Cobalt 60 source inventory and assists with Cobalt 60 loading as needed at North American facilities. It develops and performs training to qualify individuals to act as irradiator operators in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. The role employs the hierarchy of controls to control workplace radiation related hazards. This includes performing hazard assessments, selecting equipment, providing training and monitoring to determine the effectiveness of controls. Up to 60 percent travel to client sites throughout the U.S. and Canada is expected.
