About The Position

At STERIS, we help our Customers create a healthier and safer world by providing innovative healthcare and life science product and service solutions around the globe. This position develops procedures for the Radiation Safety and Security Program to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. It implements policies and procedures in the Radiation Safety Program to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and to maintain personal exposures As Low As Reasonably Achievable. The role provides training and guidance to Facility Radiation Safety Officers to ensure that Radiation Safety Program policies and procedures are effective and implemented correctly. It conducts annual Radiation Safety and Security Program audits in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations and prepares and submits written reports. The position assists in maintaining STERIS Cobalt 60 source inventory and assists with Cobalt 60 loading as needed at North American facilities. It develops and performs training to qualify individuals to act as irradiator operators in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. The role employs the hierarchy of controls to control workplace radiation related hazards. This includes performing hazard assessments, selecting equipment, providing training and monitoring to determine the effectiveness of controls. Up to 60 percent travel to client sites throughout the U.S. and Canada is expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Radiation Engineering or Chemical Engineering
  • Two (2) years of work experience in the job offered or related occupation
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting radiation safety and security audits that comply with state regulations
  • Demonstrated experience in managing radiation safety equipment inventory and radioactive material inventory
  • Demonstrated experience in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Demonstrated experience in Project Management
  • Demonstrated experience in Product Failure (ANSYS)
  • Demonstrated experience in Python
  • Demonstrated experience in R
  • Demonstrated experience in Matlab

Responsibilities
