About The Position

The Superintendent, Radiation Protection Technical & Support provides first line supervision of full-time and temporary Radiation Protection Technical and Support personnel in a safe, productive manner. This position supervises the daily RP Technical/support tasks including instrument calibration and dosimetry functions. Manages multiple and possibly conflicting priorities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two (2) years of technical training and five (5) years of related experience required; Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline may be substituted for up to three (3) years of experience
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in the craft or discipline being supervised
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in Radiation Protection (RP) instrumentation and dosimetry
  • Must meet ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978, Section 4.3.2 requirements for Supervisors Not Requiring an NRC License
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in Radiation Protection Technical and Support functions
  • Strong understanding of nuclear power generation principles and plant operations
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, site procedures, technical specifications, and industry standard
  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience, including the ability to manage personnel, prioritize competing work activities, and resolve employee concerns.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface across all levels of the organization and with external regulatory and industry representatives
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other business-related computer systems
  • Ability to support Emergency Response Organization (ERO) activities

Responsibilities

  • Manage a multi-disciplined group including union and contractor oversight
  • Function as a team leader and maintain excellent understanding of the work management process.
  • Assist in the RP budget development and functions within the budget
  • Communicate with all levels of the organization including representing the department at all meetings
  • Ensure assigned tasks are performed as safely and efficiently as possible
  • Propose time-saving tooling and work methods
  • Ensures all RP Technical and Support activities are performed within regulatory and procedural guidelines.
  • Manage personnel and resolve employee conflict or concerns.
  • Interface with regulatory and industry representatives on behalf of station activities and other Holtec sites to maximize resource sharing of RP personnel
  • Communicate technical Radiation Protection instrumentation and dosimetry information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Serves as a member of the Emergency Response Organization
